Press TV exclusive: Voter support for Iranian presidential candidates right before polls open

The latest study of voter inclinations by Press TV shows that voter support for presidential candidate Ebrahim Raeisi — who already ranks first in polls — has risen to 68.9%.

The study, based on prominent polls and finalized on Thursday (June 15) — just one day before polls open in the presidential election — also showed that 8.1% of individuals who said they would definitely participate in the June 18 election would vote for Mohsen Rezaei, who is also a Principlist.

Reformist candidate Nasser Hemmati was third with 4.6%; and Principlist Amir-Hossein Ghazizadeh-Hashemi was fourth with 3.8%.

Some 14.6% of voters were either undecided, or unclear about their favorite candidate, or said they would cast a blank vote.

Also, voter turnout is estimated to be at 47.3%.

Three presidential candidates, namely Mohsen Mehr-AlizadehAlireza Zakani, and Saeed Jalili, dropped out of the race on Wednesday.

In carrying out the study, Press TV used data from polling stations whose records had proven them to be credible. Press TV assessed the record of the polling stations by comparing their predictions in past elections with the actual results in each case.

Iran is holding its 13th presidential election on June 18. Three presidential debates were held, and Press TV studied voter inclinations after each. In the latest study, and following the withdrawal of Zakani and Jalili — who dropped out in Raeisi’s favor — Raeisi’s voter support rose to the current level from 57.3%, an increase of 11.6 percentage points.

Over 59.3 million Iranians are eligible to vote in the election, according to the Iranian Interior Ministry.
