Yemeni resistance turning Saudi war into quagmire for Riyadh: Official

Saudi Arabia is taking its last breath in the war against Yemen; this remark was made here in this webinar in Tehran. The event hosted Yemeni officials as well as resistance leaders to discuss the seven-year-long Saudi aggression on Yemen and the achievements made by the Yemeni people against Riyadh.

Delegates say Yemeni resistance has turned the Saudi war into a quagmire for Riyadh. Saudi Arabia launched the devastating war on Yemen in March 2015, with the goal of bringing a pro-Riyadh government back to power. For seven years, Riyadh has spent billions of dollars on importing US and UK-made weaponry to achieve its goals in Yemen.

Yemen's Ansarullah movement has been the major counterforce against the Saudi-led coalition. Over the course of the war, Ansarullah says it has gone from strength to strength against the Saudi-led invaders and even launched attacks deep inside Saudi territories.

In the latest counteroffensive, Yemeni forces hit sensitive targets in the southern Saudi region of Jizan on Monday, killing and injuring dozens of Saudi-led forces and mercenaries during the process.

Seven years of the Saudi coalition airstrikes have killed hundreds of thousands of Yemenis and displaced millions more. The war has also destroyed Yemen's infrastructure and spread famine and infectious diseases across the country.

Observers say Saudi Arabia has achieved nothing in its seven years of bombardment and blockade against Yemeni people. Yemen says it continues its retaliatory operations as long as Riyadh presses ahead with its aggression.

However, activists believe the prolongation of the war would be a no-win situation for both Saudi Arabia and Yemen, as the real winner is the US, which is looking at the conflict as a lucrative business.
