Norwegian Casper Rudd has earned one of the biggest Wins of his career after upsetting Stefanos Tsitsipas 2 sets to love to reach the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open.
It was a close contest in the opening set, but Rudd showed no fear and managed to take it the tie-break. Flying-high Tsitsipas — who lifted his maiden Masters 1000 trophy in Monte-Carlo before reaching the Final of the Barcelona Open — showed some resilience but could not keep up with the Norwegian, who took the 2nd set 6-4, to wrap up the match in 94 minutes.
Rudd will next meet Alexander Bublik, who knocked out Aslan Karatsev 6-4 and 6-3.
