The FBI has released a new security footage of the suspect who placed two pipe bombs outside the headquarters of the Republican and Democratic national committees in Washington on Jan. 5, the night before the deadly protest at the US Capitol.
The videos, captured separately by the several surveillance cameras, shows a masked person with a gray hooded sweatshirt who places an explosive device under a bench outside the DNC and then, plants another bomb in an alley near the RNC office between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on January 5.
The bombs were discovered the next day by the police 90 minutes before the protest at the Capitol, an event that many believe that was designed as a diversion.
"We believe the information released today will help someone recognize the suspect, or something about them," FBI assistant director in charge Steven D'Antuono said in a video statement.
He also added that the FBI has designated a $100,000 reward for any information that leads to the suspect's arrest.
"These pipe bombs were viable devices that could have been detonated, resulting in injury or death. We need the public's help to identify the individual responsible for placing these pipe bombs, to ensure they will not harm themselves or anyone else," he noted.
The new videos come as the law enforcement forces are still worried about the security of the lawmakers two months after the Capitol protest on January 6.
On that day, former US President Donald Trump called for his loyalists in Washington to show their support for him and asked them to "stop the steal" as lawmakers were in the process of confirming his defeat in Congress.
Five people were killed in the raid, including a police officer who reportedly died after inhaling bear spray used against him by one Trump supporter.
So far, more than 300 individuals have been charged on criminal counts ranging from conspiracy to attacking police and obstructing Congress.
