New York sent the crowd at Madison Square Garden into frenzy when Mika Zibanejad netted on the power play in the 1st. But the crowd were silenced 2 minutes into the 2nd as St. Louis tied it through Colton Parayko.

The Blues broke the tie in the 3rd thanks to Brayden Schenn and went on to make it 3-1 when Jaden Schwartz scored into an empty net. With the win, the Blues moved 3 points ahead of the Colorado Avalanche for the first place in the Central Division. Meanwhile the Rangers remain four points behind the New York Islanders and the Columbus Blue Jackets in the Eastern Conference wild card race.

Meanwhile the Boston Bruins extended their lead in the Atlantic Division with a 2-1 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena on Tuesday. Brad Marchand and Jake DeBrusk scored, and Tuukka Rask made 20 saves for the Bruins, who have won three straight games and are nine points ahead of the second-place Lightning.

Mitchell Stephens scored for the Lightning in the losing effort. The 2 sides will next enter the rink on Thursday, with Boston playing at the Florida Panthers, and Tampa hosting the Montreal Canadiens.
