A former American counter-terrorism specialist and military intelligence officer of the CIA says the United States is creating new areas of conflict that did not exist before.
Philip Giraldi made the remarks in an interview with Press TV on Friday while commenting on US President Donald Trump’s plan to establish a Space Force and authorizing the use of “offensive” cyber force against foreign hackers.
According to Deputy Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan, a legislative proposal for the establishment of the Space Force will be submitted to Congress by the Pentagon in February next year, a project that would add a sixth branch to America's massive military and fulfill Trump’s wish to seek US dominance in space.
Meanwhile, Trump has authorized the use of “offensive” cyber operations to target foreign hackers, according to White House National Security Adviser John Bolton.
Bolton told media on Thursday that the new National Cyber Strategy will help to protect US infrastructure, government bureaucracies, businesses and elections, which were under constant attack, by enemies of the US.
“This escalation of warfare into cyber and also into outer space, which Trump is also promoting, these are very dangerous because these were areas that previously were not part of the conflict going on in the various parts of the world,” Giraldi said.
“And now they will become very serious areas, and they will damage the ability of all people to use cyber space, and also to keep outer space free for the development of the world. So these are very dangerous steps. They are creating new areas of conflict that they did not exist before,” he added.
