Young Iranian freestyle wrestlers have featured excellent displays of physical might and grappling skills at the Asian Cadet Championships in Uzbekistan, and been awarded three gold medals.
Mohammad Karimi Seifabad used an eight-point first period against Bekzat Zhalgassov from Kazakhstan to emerge victorious 8-2 in the final bout of the 65-kilogram weight category on Saturday evening.
Mohammad Nokhodilarimi routed his Kyrgyz opponent Alinur Takirov 14-4 in the 71-kilogram final contest, and gave the Islamic Republic of Iran the second gold medal of the day.
Finally, Mohammadreza Ghiyasi picked up a takedown with seven seconds left to overcome Uzbekistan’s Mukhammadrasul Rakhimov 7-6 and take Iran’s third gold medal.
The Asian Cadet Championships started in the Uzbek capital city of Tashkent on May 10, and will conclude on May 13, 2018.
