US destroys countries that give up their nuclear weapons: Analyst

An American writer and political commentator says the countries that want to be safe from Washington’s aggression must not give up their nuclear weapons, and that any nation that agrees to negotiate with the United States over these issues could be destroyed.

E. Michael Jones, a writer, former professor, media commentator in Indiana and the current editor of the Culture Wars magazine, made the remarks in a phone interview with Press TV on Saturday.

US Secretary of Defense James Mattis said on Saturday the United States would never accept a nuclear North Korea, warning of a "massive military response" to any use of nuclear weapons against Washington or its allies.

"Make no mistake -- any attack on the United States or our allies will be defeated," the Pentagon chief said Saturday at a press conference in the South Korean capital, Seoul. "Any use of nuclear weapons by the North will be met with a massive military response, effective and overwhelming."

Secretary of Defense James Mattis warns of a "massive military response" to any use of nuclear weapons by North Korea.

Jones said the announcement of Mattis “is just one more indication of the incoherence of American foreign policy under the Trump administration.”

“At the same time that Mattis is warning North Korea not to have nuclear weapons, or even kind of like using them, the same Trump administration is refusing to certify the nuclear agreement that was made with Iran,” he added.

“Now, what exactly is the plan here? Do they want to have peaceful negotiations or do they want people to have weapons and threaten them with nuclear destruction? There’s no explanation here,” he stated.  

“So I think the message here is that any country that wants to be safe from the United States’ aggression – from the aggression of the American empire -- has to have nuclear weapons. Increasingly this is becoming clear,” the analyst noted.

“Any country that agrees to negotiate with the United States over these issues will be destroyed. And the best example I can give is Muammar Gaddafi of Libya,” he pointed out.

“What happened to Libya after they agreed to negotiate with the United States in good faith? Hillary Clinton destroyed their country.  So in spite of the incoherence, I think, this is the message that’s coming out loud and clear from Washington, DC,” Jones concluded.

'US never attacked a nuclear power'

Another American political analyst and journalist, Don DeBar, pointed out on Saturday that the United States never attacked a nuclear power.

“The US only attacks other nations after disarming, starving and destabilizing them. Like a schoolyard bully, they only attack the defenseless. They are, for all their bluster, cowards at the core,” DeBar told Press TV.
