US-Turkey relations have been worsening over the past years over a range of issues. But the deterioration of their relations seems especially serious with the US and Turkey now imposing visa restrictions on each others’ citizens. The two countries are apparently unable to resolve their differences through usual diplomatic channels without having to take measures that make headlines around the world. The visa row is the tip of the iceberg. Washington and Ankara are at odds over the course of the conflict in Syria which has driven a wedge between the two NATO allies.

Iran rallies behind IRGC as Trump tries to demonize it

The push by US President Donald Trump to blacklist Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corp as a terrorist organization has provoked immediate reactions in the country. What many view as a campaign to demonize the Guards has united all domestic camps behind what is seen as one of the country’s oldest revolutionary institutions. Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif that has already won international praise for his role in resolving disputes over the country’s nuclear energy program says the IRGC is the honor of Iranians.
