Iranian wrestlers get 12 medals in Beach Wrestling World Championships

Iranian beach wrestlers have collected a dozen medals, nearly half of them gold ones, at the 2017 Beach Wrestling World Championships in Turkey.

Amirreza Sahraei recorded awe-inspiring performances in the men’s cadet over 70-kilogram, and clinched the gold medal of the weight division in Turkey’s southwestern beach town of Dalyan on Saturday evening.

In the junior 70-kilogram weight class, Soheil Parasteh downed his compatriot Hossein Abbaspour in the final encounter and picked up another gold for Iran.

Mostafa Nejati also won the bronze medal in the men’s cadet over 80-kilogram weight section.

Earlier in the tournament, Reza Moghaddasi received a gold medal in the men’s cadet 60-kilogram weight category.

Reza Shiri added another beach wrestling gold to Iran’s medal tally in the men’s junior 60-kilogram class.

Seyyed Jafar Ghasemi also aced the final bout of senior 80-kilogram class, winning a gold medal for Iran.

Amir Hossein Hadipour, Mohammad Reza Pakpour, Mohammad Naderi and Omid Hassantabar were awarded a silver medal each in the cadet 70-kilogram, junior 80-kilogram, senior 70-kilogram and senior 80-kilogram categories respectively.

Amir Hossein Esmaeili also got a bronze medal in the cadet 70-kilogram weight division.

The 2017 Beach Wrestling World Championships started in Dalyan, Turkey, on October 13, and will wrap up on October 15.
