US seeks control over African nations’ militaries: Expert

Press TV has conducted an interview with Alex Powers, from Veterans Today Africa, in Douala, Cameroon, to discuss the comments made by a top commander that Nigeria is almost on the brink of getting rid of Boko Haram militancy.

Press TV: What do you make of these comments made by Major General Irabor? Is Nigeria almost on the brink of getting rid of Boko Haram insurgency?

Powers: I don’t think so, I think that it’s an important aspect of the foreign policies of other countries, particularly the United States, to keep Nigeria, particularly, region unstable, keep Chinese investors out, and create the pan-African military that they control. It was very important to the United States to have control over the African nations’ militaries.

What they have done with Boko Haram is being able to influence and coordinate and actively have men on ground and bases, the US in particular, in Africa; because of Boko Haram. So the thing is that WikiLeaks blew the whistle on Boko Haram and the United States.

There is a long history of coordination, you have the same situation in Syria, in Ukraine, where in Nigeria as well where the US embassy actually acted as the conduit for all types of intelligence operations that directly assisted these insurgents with weapons and other forms of monetary assistance.

Press TV: So basically you are saying that despite these operations, we are seeing in Nigeria where a bit around the Lake Chad region, we are going to see Boko Haram continue to flourish there because they are getting support from the US?

Powers: They’re definitely CIA, based on …These are not my investigations, these information are publicly available via WikiLeaks, there are a lot of investigations have been done including the Greenwich Society, they are based at a Nigerian investigated journalist spent a lot of time on this, many of the African journalists spent a lot of time on this.

There have been situations where airplanes form Bahrain were captured, there were foreigners who were bringing weapons into northern Nigeria and a lot of this stuff gets covered up, but it does leak out in the non-alternative press out of Africa. African media covered it, they’re well-respected organizations based in here in Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea and Chad; so, there is evidence that there is a long history of working together with the United States, Bahrain, Saudi; so, the question is have they already accomplished their goals?

They do have bases, maybe will end and. People forget  that over 15 thousand people have died in a very short period of time and the western media and most of the world does not even talk about it, very hush, hush.

I think it’s very important that people understand that a lot of these situations are created and that is for direct benefit of foreign powers who don’t want Nigeria, which is the premier country in Africa, they will have 400 million people in the next 30 years, a very powerful and strong army. The Nigerians in the past had interfered with the US in the French influence in Africa and they killed Qaddafi for this reason as well, they want to control Africa, this is how they are going to do it.

Press TV: Is this reality something that is understood by the Nigerian government; and if so, then their fight against Boko Haram is just a farce.

Powers: In Africa, there is deal inside a deal inside a deal, so I would assume that people have been paid off to play ball, that’s my guide, there is money floating around, people look the other way, I don’t even know that if the Nigerians are actually running the operations.

 It’s like they have leaders that pop up and pop out, disappear and all the weapons, I don’t know how they got the type of weaponry they have; so all the hallmarks are there; whether it continues, whether it ends. I hope so, for the sake of these people in general I hope it ends. The US has got what they wanted already. They have military bases, they have six or seven African nations working together under their coordination and basic control so I think they got what they wanted. Let’s see what the next stage is.
