Saudi-Israeli alliance

Saudi Arabia’s former intelligence chief, Turki al-Faisal, appeared at a forum in Washington with Yaakov Amidror, a former adviser to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Faisal and Amidror discussed the ‘shared threats’ to Saudi Arabia and Israel. And both of course had a common theme to attack in their remarks. Iran’s nuclear energy program and the deal it has sealed with the P5+1.

Nasrallah on Saudi subversion

The leader of Lebanon’s resistance movement Hezbollah, whose fighters are involved in fighting militant groups in Syria, once again speaks about the situation in the war-torn country. Nasrallah dedicated a major part of his speech to Saudi Arabia’s role in the Syrian conflict. He said the Saudis are “pushing towards the collapse of ceasefires” in Syria, and that Riyadh’s support for anti-Syria groups is causing an escalation in violence.

US troops in Yemen

US troops are in Yemen. Pentagon officials say their mission is to help the fight against militants in the southeastern port city of Mukalla. The exact number of the troops deployed has not been revealed but it is known that a flotilla, including an amphibious assault ship with Marine infantry and aircraft, and two destroyers are now off the coast of Yemen. US troops will also help Emirati forces with medical and intelligence missions and carry out surveillance and refueling missions.
