Turkish FM due in Iran for Tehran-Ankara-Baku talks

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu plans to visit Iran to attend the fourth trilateral meeting with his Iranian and Azeri counterparts.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, his Azeri counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov and Cavusoglu will hold the fourth session of trilateral talks on Tuesday in the Iranian city of Ramsar in the northern Mazandaran Province.

During the meeting, the three foreign ministers will exchange views on ways to expand cooperation on issues of common interests.

Zarif, Mammadyarov and Cavusoglu will also discuss agreements reached during previous rounds of talks, particularly an action plan adopted in Van in 2014.

During the meeting in Van on March 14, 2014, foreign ministers of Iran, Azerbaijan and Turkey adopted The Trilateral Sectoral Cooperation Action Plan for 2014-2016.

The third trilateral meeting of foreign ministers of Iran, Azerbaijan and Turkey is held in the Turkish city of Van on March 14, 2014.

Previous sessions of meetings among Tehran, Baku and Ankara were held in the northwestern Iranian city of Orumiyeh in West Azarbaijan Province in 2011, in Azeri city of Nakhichevan in 2012 and in the Turkish city of Van in 2014, respectively.

The mechanism to set up the foreign ministerial meeting among Iran, Azerbaijan and Turkey pursues objectives including exchanging views on trilateral and regional issues on the basis of understanding and ways to strengthen stability and security.
