In this edition of The Debate, Press TV has conducted an interview with Scott Rickard, a former American intelligence linguist from Tampa, and the columnist of The Hill, Brent Budowsky, from Washington, to discuss the results of the Iowa caucus in the 2016 US presidential race.

The outcome of Iowa caucus is not astounding at all, Budowsky said, adding “I was always expecting Trump to fall.”

Donald Trump is running a campaign that is based on attacking Muslims and insulting Hispanics as murderers and rapists, Budowsky said, adding that Trump even made fun of disabled people with a sickening impersonation.

Budowsky also described Texas maverick Ted Cruz as the most disliked senator in the Senate.

Cruz is not better than Trump in the eyes of many of us, he emphasized.

“The most important thing I think that happened is that senator Marco Rubio who is more reasonable by comparison of Senate candidates did very well and he is now a major contender,” Budowsky noted.

Meanwhile, Rickard believes that the result coming out of Iowa is typical to the state, adding that it does not dictate the end for a front-runner like Hillary Clinton or Trump.

Iowa is a small state which is inexpensive to advertise in comparison with large states like Florida and is very easy to be manipulated through the financial donations made to Evangelical churches and The Family Leader, he added.
