Press TV has interviewed Massoud Shadjareh, a co-founder of the Islamic Human Rights Commission, in London, to discuss the remarks by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei’s on Eid al-Fitr.
A rough transcription of the interview follows.
Press TV: Talk to us about the important points that were brought up in Ayatollah Khamenei’s speech.
Shadjareh: Well, this is actually extremely significant. The reality is that the United States has been and is involved in a very negative way right across the world and especially in the Middle East... the support of the oppressive Zionist state and supporting and promoting and actually being the cause of creation of Daesh (ISIL) and indeed the rest of the policy in the region, supporting the oppression against the Yemenis etc, etc... it actually indicates quite clearly that the United States has been and is supporting oppression and oppressive regimes of Bahrain etc, etc.. These are not accidental, these are systematic.
And, therefore, I think any nation who actually wants the good will of the people in the region and wants to actually create a harmonic society in the Middle East and the world needs to challenge this hegemony of US.
And it is really refreshing to hear this and see that the recent negotiation has not meant that Iran is joining the rest of the nations who are actually supporting the oppression of the United States.
And indeed, even when we look at the negotiation, we see that even all the way through the negotiations, the United States has dragged its feet... And then also we see that even beyond Obama, the Senate is very hostile towards those who actually want solutions to the problems of Middle East.
Press TV: Another segment worth mentioning was when the Leader said Iran will never bow down to the excessive demands of its enemies. Elaborate on that for us as well.
Shadjareh: Well, the reality is that the United States sees fit to go around demanding all sorts of excesses.
We see in the bankrupt policies be it in Iraq, be it in Afghanistan and the way that they actually have gradually destroyed harmony in places like Yemen, Libya... anywhere they have actually got involved, they have created havoc.
Excesses is sort of putting pressure and trying to turn nations into slaves and Iran is not going to do that and this was confirmed today by the Leader.
