UK police say they have arrested three people on charges of Syria-related terrorism offenses amid growing fears that more Britons join ISIL terrorist group.

The arrests were made in Walsall, West Midlands on Tuesday. The detainees include two men and a woman.

Police said the suspects were detained at their home addresses and are now being held at a nearby police station.

The arrests comes against the backdrop of rising concerns over the rising number of Britons joining terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq.

Hundred of Britons are estimated to have slipped into Syria to join the ranks of foreign-sponsored militants, including ISIL terrorists, operating against the Syrian government since 2011.

A London-base political commentator has blamed the UK foreign policy for the ISIL crisis, saying it is too late for the security forces to prevent Britons from joining the Takfiri terrorists.

“The British Security Service has a very clear understanding of who has gone to Syria and Iraq. They always allowed people to go there until ISIS (ISIL) suddenly hit headlines," Chris Bambery told Press TV on Tuesday.

ISIL has been carrying out horrific acts of terror such as public decapitations and crucifixions against all communities such as Shias, Sunnis, Kurds and Christians in Iraq and Syria.
