As Israel’s general elections draw closer, latest polls reveal that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party is several seats behind its rivals. Likud’s main challenger is the Zionist Union coalition, which is consisted of Israel's Labor party, led by Isaac Herzog, and Hatnuah party led by Tsipi livny. The early elections for the 20th Knesset are due to be held on Tuesday.
Palestinians policy towards Tel Aviv, however, never changes with the change of Israeli premiers. The issue that might change this time is that Livny’s party backs talks with Palestinians.
Israel's cabinet is formed by the party that can build a coalition from a parliamentary majority. Herzog and Livni have agreed to rotate as prime minister if their coalition wins, with Herzog serving the first half of the term and Livny the two remaining years.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu seems to be under intense pressure ahead of the key elections. Recent surveys suggest that Israelis could vote Netanyahu out of office, but in politics, things could change at the very last minute.
