UK: Putin destabilizing Baltic States

London has accused Moscow of seeking to destabilize the Baltic States.

London has accused Moscow leadership of seeking to destabilize the Baltic States of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

UK Defence Secretary Michael Fallon warned Russian President Vladimir Putin may seek to destabilize the Baltic region. He noted that Putin posed 'a real and present danger. The UK official urged NATO to prepare to tackle the aggression in whatever form it takes.

Fallon’s warning come after Prime Minister David Cameron called upon European allies to threaten Russia with further economic sanctions, which could last for “years to come” if the Kremlin doesn't stop intervening in Ukraine – allegations denied by Moscow.

Earlier, the former MI6 Chief Sir John Sawers said that ramping up political and military pressure on Putin could lead to a change of Kremlin leadership which “may well be for the worse.”
